Concussion for Vardaros
Vanderkitten's Christine Vardaros will miss the US Cyclo-cross championships after suffering a severe concussion from an accident sustained at her home in Belgium. Vardaros hit her head on a low wooden beam in the attic of her house, and then re-injured her head again at the Asper-Gavere Superprestige race on November 18, and was unable to make the trip back to the USA.
After consulting with a neurologist Vardaros was told to spend time off the bike. "It's been rough sitting in a dark, silent room the past days," Vardaros said. "And I can't even do sit-ups to pass time! But if this is what it takes to race again soon, then I'm somewhat happy to do it!"
Assuming recovery goes well, Vardaros may resume racing as early as December 21 at Scheldecross in Belgium.
Health update: still in the dark aside from my online play for about two minutes a day now.

Sorry to hear about this, Christine, although from my own experience, I can say that having a concussion makes watching daytime television more entertaining. Stateside, anyway.
Since I'm such a klutz, my wife has recommended that I wear a helmet whenever I'm working around the house. Maybe you should consider it too.

Yes, I am already under orders to wear the helmet inside. The problem with it is that now i hit my head even more than the recent usual 1x/week since I forget to take into consideration the additional size of the helmet.
And THANKS to all for your well wishes!!!!! I sooo appreciate it - more than you can imagine - or maybe you can imagine... I'm sure i'm not the first - or the last - to be all f'cked up!
Sorry to hear about the concussion, but that was to be expected when you bump your head like that.
Me I'm fighting some little buggers in my nose.. no biking for either of us..
Hey BBW: Can't you just pull the buggers out and get on with it? haha
