Is Today Race Day?

Today i awoke in a real panic. I thought it was race day. When the races are so close together it is hard to keep track of what day it is. And memories all string together to form one big timeless blur.

Just as i was getting out of bed to grab my slippers, book and head downstairs to look at a calendar for some solace, one of Jones' eyes popped open with a simultaneous puckering of the lips in anticipation of his morning kiss. Instead he was handed an impromptu game of "20 Questions". "Is it race day today? What day is it? what date is it? Are you sure i raced yesterday? But i was talking to my coach while having coffee. Oh, HE was having coffee in California. Are you sure we dont have to leave for Luxembourg right now? Why am i so confused?"

I had this same confusion when traveling with pro teams. But at least when traveling with them it was almost always race day when you awoke. It was confusing sometimes to awake in a strange bed, in a strange room with a strange person.

It is race day tomorrow so I am ok...this time.

Nice work YESTERDAY. Only 3:30 back. Looks like the form is coming together. Great to see the US men and women making a strong statement.

it has been fun to see so many americans here in tiny belgium! I am most definitely enjoying my day off. I had ten pieces of toast slathered with crushed garlic, olive oil and salt and for dessert a faux grilled cheese sandwich. Happy new year to you too Amy and to Jonah and everyone else!!!

Peanut and Jonas,
Wishing you two the best that life can offer, and that you continue to remember what day it is. I am going to do my best to live fully and completely, and to love the best I can. Now get out there and kick some major butt...

Thanks for the well wishes guys! Jonas and I really appreciate it. As for yesterday's race, i had a very bad asthma attack again thanks to the freezing conditions. I gave all i had just to not drop out of the race - UGH! At least i had a glass of champagne afterwards to celebrate new years! hope your new years is going well so far.

Chirstine, the cold air affects me in a simular way. The cold air yesterday on my little 10 mile foolin around ride really bothered my lungs. I'm ok, but I am waiting for a least 40 degrees before I head out today. Take care. Drink some of that hot spiced wine.
