Plants Rule the World...

or at least my diet. Last weekend I had the opportunity to talk about my plant-based diet for sport to folks here in Belgium at an event held by Belgian's Vegetarian Society called Ethisch Vegetarisch Alternatief (EVA) who were excellent hosts! I was there as a pro athlete and spokesperson for In Defense of Animals (IDA.)

In addition to my excitement of getting to speak in front of a room full of Belgians for the first time, I got to meet fellow Organic Athlete member and journalist Jürgen Bruynooghe. I originally met him (through email) last year when he interviewed me for an article for EVA's magazine.

If you want to read all about it, check out Amy's blog. She was kind enough to report on it!

By the way, the photo was taken just before i got up to speak.

Have you read The Lost Language of Plants by Stephen Harrod Buhner. I just finished it. It's pretty info dense, but good. I'd suggest reading chapters ten and eleven first, then the rest.

ms. vardaros,
just a quick note to give you props and thank you for being an ambassador for that in which you believe. there is so much static out there that involves people whining/bitching/harping/hating. boo. you instead focus energy on educating/promoting/being awesome and happy. i'm sure you have your days and lapses; but in all i am just so impressed that you take the time to help educate people about your life, your successes, and your human-ness. aren't we all just human in the end? instead of creating barriers, you seek to knock them down (and occasionally leap them whilst carrying a bike). pretty rad stuff. keep on keeping on! and keeping it real (which seems to go hand in hand for you)!
