Article in Cyclocross Magazine

I am finally getting around to posting my cyclocross mag article in the current issue. As much as i enjoyed reading my own article, i did have a lot of fun checking out the other articles such as the cyclo-cross buyers guide - especially the cx tire review including their 'hi-tech' testing procedure. This was a must-read.

Another article to check out is the one on Eye Candy. My favorite entry of the bunch is on Ahrens Bikes. I gotta remember to ask Mandy where she got the letters that were used for her name on the bike.
To get Cyclocross Magazine delivered to your doorstep, or to find out where you can pick up a copy, click HERE.

AND if you have a second, can you kindly vote for my column OR on the article of Bart Wellens on the Cyclocross Magazine site? (it takes only one quick click) The article of mine they refer to is the last one i wrote - not the current one posted on this blog today. This contest is purely for my ego, I get to keep the column with the magazine either way. Good thing because i am losing in the polls.

The next issue of Cyclocross Magazine will be published just in time for Interbike Show in Las Vegas. It will include my column and a very long Sven Nys interview where he reveals many secrets on how he is able to dominate the sport year after year.
The cx season starts in just over a month so i have been busy lining everything up to be prepared for the start. Shortly I will update my race schedule on the left side of the blog so you know where I'll be just in case you're in the neighborhood and want to cheer me on.

Thanks as always for reading!

Looks like the voting is tight. I look forward to reading your stuff, and perhaps I can get an issue on the stand if that is possible. 18 more hours of work, and I'm off work for 17 days in a row.... yeah. My right leg has felt stressed or it has a little tendion itis. I definitely need some new shoes and might consider some type of inserts for my biking shoes. Thanks for publishing your work. Talk to you soon,
rickie

Sweet articles in 'cx magazine...looking forward to the nys interview! If all goes well issue 4 will also include one from me too (but I'm not quite cool enough to have pro connections such as Nys).

I just love the pre-amble of the article.. about your life being centered around the spring classic.. eat a pro-bar, some gren tea, get out for a training ride,... and then crash in front of the TV...for a minute there I thought for a minute you were going to RIDE them.. :)

yes the voting is tight. that is actually proof of a well balanced mag i'd think. but i still want to win. haha. good luck with the leg. do keep up the stretching and you may want to ice after workouts. I just got insoles and they help my walking/running a lot.
hey jb: just cant wait to read your article. what is the topic?
echelen: thanks for the vote. I can't wait for the mtb olympics to see how he did. he is nervous about the heat so maybe it will be a cool day.
hey bbw: glad you got the humor in the article. I was laughing while writing it.

It's about amateur cyclocross race promotion, based on my experiences putting on the Ithaca GP of Cyclocross here in Michigan (www.IthacaGP.blogspot.com). Promoters from all over the country have helped me out with details in the article, so I hope it stacks up!

Well I have already voted for you... twice :) Once at the office and once at home.

I'm really looking forward to eth Sven Nys interview too, maybe weather like the Women's road race would suit him? Just like home!

The mag this time round looks fantastic except maybe a few too many column inches given over to the tyre (English for tire ;) ) review.

The eye candy section is great... Some cool looking and hard to come by (did you see the Vanilla waiting list) bike porn. Food for thought as it look like I'm gonna have to wait a while for my new bike (home stuff to pay for).

I'm still waiting for our local league to publish their race list for this CX season, looking forward to seeing yours... so we can cheer you on, here if not in person.

hey jb: I look forward to reading your article. It seems like it will give us insight to what goes on behind the scenes - very cool.
chr: thanks for voting twice! I support cx mag's decision to put a lot of page space on tires because it is the one single thing you have control over from race to race. And it is the easiest part of the bike to change for performance enhancement.

I guess so Christine, but with infinate combination of courses and external influences the results are hugely subjective.

I'm not saying the article was wasted, I for one on my next tyre purchase am likely to change brands based on the test.

darling girl:
you, too, can get you some vk bling! i got my gemstone stickers at michaels craft store. i'm sure there is an equivalent in belgium since there must be a population of women who sit at home on occasion and...make scrapbooks.
oh wait, that might be an american thing. at any rate, they are available and cheap. and i can certainly pick up a pack and deliver them to you should you make it across the pond. or, how about i send them with jonny for 'xmas 'cross in belgium?

thanks mandy! Actually just today i got a bunch of name stickers with an american flag and my blood type printed on it from my old Prune team. too cool! You must see them some day.
thanks again.
