A shout out to Bjorn Fox of Stinson Beach

Yesterday, my 13 yr old California riding buddy was hit by a car. Thankfully he is ok, but that must have been a scary experience.
Here's his email i just received from Bjorn:

"I had an accident yesterday when I was doing my training ride. I was heading north along the lagoon when a car came around a blind corner out of control.
I turned around and saw the car skidding side ways towards me. It was like a wave coming towards me and I tried to sprint away but he car hit my rear tire hard
and launched me into the ditch. I was air-lifted to the Childrens hospital in Oakland because of back pain but it looks like I’m is going to be fine. There was an article in the Marin IJ (San Francisco Bay Area Newspaper) today so I wanted to let you know that I’m alright."

Bjorn is one of USA's brightest stars of tomorrow. At the young age of 13, it is clear that his talents are extraordinary. I really look forward to watching him grow into one of the top World cyclists! He specializes in mtb, cyclo-cross and just started road racing. I wish i had a photo of him because he's also the cutest thing!

Not least of the consequences of Mr. B's unfortunate mishap with, er, cross-town traffic is that standing-room-only audiences of the Parkside Café will temporarily be deprived of his uncanny impersonations - not to say channeling - of Jimi Hendrix every Tuesday night. His fans are counting the minutes till his return.

I can't tell you how happy and relieved I am to hear he's OK!!!

I don't know Bjorn. But my girlfriend and I drove by seconds after the crash, pulled over and directed traffic until the Highway Patrol came.

I offered first aid assistance, but two nurse-trained individuals fortunately were right there with him. I was encouraged to see that he was conscious and was able to move his leg. The impact looked like it was significant, and the scene was scary with the car in the ditch alongside Bjorn.

But what broke our hearts was the the sight of his family (I think) coming to the scene in a van and all the kids running to see him laying in the ditch. It's been on our mind ever since. We said prayers for him and feel, now, that they were answered.

I am a SF sports and trial attorney. If he needs our statements or help, please let him know we'd be happy to help him.
